In 1920 the Ideal Home Show brought us the modern marvel that was the electric kettle and electric toaster. They both proved to be revolutionary kitchen appliances. They were followed in 1947 by the microwave, a futuristic cooking device which was set to change the way we cooked forever. The 1970 show brought us the wonderful labour saving device which is the electric lawn mower, which took the strain out of the weekend gardening. The Ideal Home Show has not only brought us gadgets and gizmos, it has also been at the cutting edge of energy efficiency and environmental concerns for years.

The Show at Christmas

2013 will be the first time that the show has been brought to the public in the run up to Christmas. There are now three Ideal Home events that take place across the course of the year: The Ideal Home Show, The Ideal Home Show at Christmas and the Ideal Home show Scotland. The Christmas show will be held in London’s Earls Court in November and will be open to the public for five days. Over the course of the event the public will be able to gain ideas and inspiration for their own version of an ideal Christmas. Experts will be on hand to offer advice, whether it is how to trim the perfect tree or cook the perfect Christmas roast. Stands will be filled by more than five hundred exhibitors and visitors will be able to take a look at the latest home interior designs, furniture, fixtures, fittings and gadgets that will make their Christmas perfect. There will also be plenty of celebrity guests dropping by to offer their own take on their ideal Christmas.

Exhibition Highlights

There will be plenty to see in the Interiors & Home Accessories section, plus visitors will get to view the very latest in seasonal fashion on the Christmas Catwalk. The Food & Drink section is bound to be popular with all of the equipment, advice and inspiration that you could possibly need to cover all of your food and drink needs for the entire festive season. Learn a new recipe in the Christmas Cookery Theatre or enjoy some festive fayre in the Christmas restaurant. Pick up some Christmas gifts as you make your way around the show and learn all about the latest gadgets and gizmos to make sure you have the latest Smart Home technology at your fingertips. There will be last minute decorations to pick up to give your home the finishing touches that make it perfect, and if you have the energy you can take a turn around the Christmas ice rink before you leave.
