Hyde Park is London’s largest open space.  With 630 acres and a perimeter of 4 miles, there is something to do for everyone.  Previously owned by the monks of Westminster Abby, King Henry VIII transformed this space into a deer park in 1536.  Serpentine lake, built under Queen Catherine, is used for boating, sailing and even bathing.  Just south of the lake is Rotten Row, the riding track.  To the east of the park is Marble arch, where you will hear people exercising their right to free speech on Speakers corner.  And to the west, Kensington, where Queen Victoria built a monument to her husband Albert.
