Somerset Rural Life Museum

This museum at the edge of the Abbey grounds presents a variety of local rural occupations such as peat-digging, cider- and cheese-making, thatching and farming.

This conical hill rises 521 feet [159m] from the surrounding flat plain and provides a spectacular view of Wells, the Quantocks, the Mendips and the Bristol Channel. At the top of the hill is St. Michael’s Tower, all that remains of a 14th century church.

Church of St. John the Baptist

Located in High Street in Glastonbury, this 15th century church is considered to have one of the finest towers in Somerset. In the churchyard stands the largest Glastonbury thorn in town.

The Tribunal

The abbots once heard legal cases in this 14th century building in High Street. It now has a museum of artifacts from nearby prehistoric lake villages. The Glastonbury tourist office is also located here.
